How does someone go about choosing a college when you have a learning disability? Is it better to go to a community college or to a four year college or university? My friend who has a learning disability has been looking into both community college and four year college. He thinks that a four year college offers students alot more help than a community college?
Say you study a lot and still get C’s in your classes. You have used all resources including other books, tutoring and anything else you can think of. Is this a good reason to be prescribed ritalin or adderall? Think about, this is the only reason why I am not going to any spychologist to get prescribed this crap, even though many of my advisors advised me to.
I have a learning disability I am not the smartest person and I have a six grade reading comprehension level. I barely made it through high school and was often told by people once I graduated from high school that I just slipped through the cracks. That really hurted deeply. I also went to get tested to get into a University after I graduated from high school and the school told me that they never had a student come into their school and score as low on the test as I did and told me that maybe college just isn’t for me. What should I do? Do you think that I would be more suited for a technical trade school instead? I want to work on my reading comprehension by attending Sylvan learning center. They help adults as well as children.
I know people who want to get their learning disability assessed. I know that one person was assessed but not properly told specifically what kind of disability they had when they were in high school. There was all kinds of theories. Has anyone had a similar experience and what resources or organizations do you know would be helpful in assessing a learning disability.
wasting their time in school? Decades ago I was told I could not do better.Public schools acted like
they did not want you there if you had trouble learning. I have a GED but nothing other and done
OK in life,I make 40K a year. I wanted to do better
in school but why was my desire alone not enough?
I tried to go through Burea vocational rehabilitation
when I was 19 and they told me forget the GED.
Can you understand that?
